As a humorous aside I would like to point out that at one time the term Viking did not engender warm fuzzy feelings in any of the "non-Islamic" world. We also have a sizable population of "middleeastern immigrants" and the crime rates are generally on a lowering trend. The present political situation in the Middle-east has resulted in an increasing polarization of viewpoints. Both sides regarding the other as little more than criminals deserving a quick and brutal death. This is understandable as once a loved one is affected the unthinkable becomes the reasonable. Being myself Irish this is not an unfamiliar state of affairs. The only thing I can say is the present situation brings people to the forefront who would ordinarily be locked up in a stable, peaceful society.
