From the point of view of price/performance, ease of maintenance, etc., I still maintain that the Japanese have it right. From the point of view of fun/enthusiasm/mystique or whatever you want to call it, I share your Ducati/BMW taste. I ride a Suzuki GS500 to work whenever it is not raining in the morning, but I drool over Ducati Monsters and various BMW models when I go to my motorcycle dealer for service or to buy some accessory (it is a multi-brand dealership).
