Well, you can leave them in the car for a few minutes as long as you
leave a supply of water and the windows down.... :-)

Unless I move to Canada or a similar latitude, I treat the camera like a

pet or child (never leave them in a car that is hot). A friend of mine
left 
his Contax T3 in the glove compartment of his truck IN ALABAMA for a
year. 
He lent it to me and it was in perfect shape. I consider him lucky!
