HP? 110 years for BW on the HP high quality photo papers isn't good enough for you? ;-) Also, the warmth problem may have to do with settings; I'm getting really neutral prints. My only complaints about BW with the 7960 are cost per print - it does eat carts - and the fact that it can only print up to 8.5 x 11. Otherwise, it's a dream. And the prints it turns out look like custom RC prints. B. But and it is a big but both are so much faster than any of the Epson's (I had an 1280 before this) you will actually enjoy printing from them. Oh and most of that "calibrate once a week" stuff with the Epson's has gone. Heck both of them even do the print head calibration and alignment for you with a built in scanner. Right now I'm using their supplied profiles - could not be happier. The HP driver seems a little odd as it does not shut down cleanly, but that is a small matter. The only clear negative is print life. I'd be interested if anybody has had different experiences. It seems that if I want a 13" carriage and good B&W my choices are the Epson 2200, the Canon 9900, and if I can live with 81/2" max width the HP 7960 which opens up debate on the R800. What works for you, am I missing any printers, any suggestions? Don dorysrus@mindspring.com _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
