Well IF the issue is Canadian production, then why not simply produce
the same 74 where ever they're producing the other lenses. What would be
the point of a dumbed down 75? There's no more reason to want a 75 2.8 -
as opposed to that fabulous 1.4 - on a digital than there is on a film
M. And, for that matter, given the limited top ISO on the digital, a
faster lens makes even more sense. And keep in mind that I no longer own
a 75 as I don't like the focal length - but I do think it's a fabulous
piece of glass. :-)

BD.. I must agree on the reasonably small base of M buyers. However
there is possibly one reason for introducing a new 75. Leica has now
replaced all the lenses once made in Canada. The 75 I believe is the
last one. It might be only the issue of supply vs discontinuation.
Personally I thought it wa a bit dumb to produce a 90/4, and even dumber
to have the Macro feature as a come on ( at a small additional charge of

Then there is the possibility of a dumbed down 75 to go with the DIgital

As I once said, If I were King......
