So if a professional slideshow (with sound, fades etc.) is not required, one can simply dump a bunch of JPEGs on a CD, which will be playable in a DVD player. I send pictures to my sister this way. Her player, a cheap Philips, has the option to go through all the images automatically, keeping each image on the screen for 12 seconds or something like that.
