i like konerman's steer on my noctilux very much, i've mounted it also
on the 75 lux and 90 cron ASPH. to further improve the odds of
getting good focus on a lens which has about an inch depth of field
at 5 feet, i also like the 0.85 viewfinders, or M3s, and
the 1.25 eyepeice magnifier.

i have had to send in both my M6's for rangefinder adjustment,
i once had to send in a 90 cron because its focus was out of adjustment,
and my M3 after a shipping mishap was also off-focus. the MP has
been fine so far. i have never had to "match" focus to a specific
lens; i think that an M adjusted to specifications with an M lens
also in spec should be able to consistently focus within that len's
depth of field.

some degree of delicacy seems to be the nature of rangefinders; i have had
to
have my super technika's rangefinder adjusted, as well as fujica GS645 and
contax T.

i tend to periodically shoot a tape measure on PanF focused at 6 feet
on the tape when i notice my focusing isn't quite right and always when
acquiring a new rangefinder. put the camera on a tripod, open the lens
up all the way, use a cable release and shoot 3 exposures, racking focus
to infinity and then refocusing between each exposure. it seems tedious
but it really only takes 5 minutes and 3 exposures, and gives you confidence
that your system can focus accurately and consistently.
