It seems this is the case.  Perhaps there is a way to plug up the "holes", 
foam perhaps.  My first reaction is to reach for the duct tape, or 
electrical tape.

In fact, the eyepiece on the MP is attached to the
camera's top in a way entirely different from previous
M cameras.

Is the new method more prone to dust penetration? You
may be the first to identify a possible shortcoming.
