I always had a thing for Russell Lee's pictures and these just confirm it. The one of the children resting in Pie Town, NM (#9, I think) is my favorite. Love the green socks and shorts -- reminds me of the work of modern (Leica) photographer Wm. Eggleston. BTW, Pie Town is still there -- I was down there not long ago. There's not much to it these days, but there's still a cafe that bakes pies. It's called the Daily Pie. There used to be one called the Pie-O-Neer but I'm not sure if it's still there. If you drive through the town about the only thing you'll see is the post office. For a peek at Pie Town today check these out: http://www.pietown.org http://www.dailypie.com Pie Town is not all low-tech, though.
