Gene,
Here's a little tip on using wides on the R or I suppose any SLR camera.

Given the shot you're making isn't moving and without looking in the
viewfinder turn the focus ring completely to the closest point of focus,
just crank it around to the stop.

Now put it to your eye and it's nothing but a major blur, now start to focus
from there and you'll find it much easier to be right on the mark quickly.
This works extremely well with any of the super wides because they tend to
keep everything looking like it's all in focus when you start to focus from
the infinity point of the lens.

I rarely start a wide shot with the lens at the infinity point unless it's
an infinity type picture. Anything closer where I want to focus on something
close I use the above method.

I know a few on the list now use my method and say it's so easy they work in
that fashion when using their R whatever camera and wide angle lenses.
