Feli--

I haven't peeled the protective plastic off my M7, either. I've seen lots of
cameras that still have that piece on the bottom. I think lots of folks just
don't want the baseplate scratched up, regardless of whether the camera is
chrome, black chrome, or paint.

It is not a disease to leave the plastic on the bottom. In fact, some folks
even buy the plastic thingies that protect the faces of their PDA screens.
I've actually done that myself, though I never use the darn PDA. A total
nuisance. ;-)

I have a friend who just bought a black paint MP. He actually uses it,
but refuses to peel the protective plastic off of the baseplate, because
he is afraid that it will get scratched. I tried to explain to him that
part of the charm of a BP camera is that when it gets worn you see the
brass come through it etc.

He looked at me like I had just asked him if he had ever slept with his
mother, then took a look at my battered black TTL with the dented
baseplate and put the MP back in to the bag. He then mumbled something
about him not wanting his camera to play with my camera, because he was
afraid it may pick up some bad habits.

What to do?

Feli
