I have visited your website more than a few times, Doug, and am extremely impressed with your photos and their presentation. I also know you sell 14x20" prints, which I am assuming you make using the Polaroid? If so, that's quite an endorsement. A firewire/scsi adapter makes sense. Alternately, I just looked and was able to find a SCSI card on newegg.com for $36, which combines with the scanner to be just over $500 in total, which would save me about $100 over the Nikon Coolscan V. The only thing I notice now, is that the Microtek seems to not have any built in dust removal, which sounds like it would be a nice feature for me as I use a fair amount of C-41 film.
