Photoshop sometimes work faster with two processors at only 1ghz each
then with one at 3 ghz and sometimes faster with a 2ghz processor and
two gb ram then with a 3 ghz processor with one gb ram - so what kind of
work will you be doing will influence on your choice.

We gave up building our own pcs a long time a go and often we go for
special offers by Dell - never had aproblem with Dell by the way

Do not know the coolscan but I have seen som very nice printing done
with the epson - try to get hold of some Hahnemühle paper with
watercolourpaperstructure - makes really great B&Wprints

Good luck with your project
