It is interesting to note that RWB lists nine national sections in various
countries, and 78% of these achieved better ratings than the US.  Belgium,
France and Sweden held 7, 8, and ninth positions respectively.  The lowest
ranked of the national sections was Italy, with a position of 53rd.
Statistically speaking, there seems to be a decided advantage to a country
to a large block of citizens doing the voting.
    Another interesting fact is that the ratings, as stated on the website,
take no consideration of any kind on the ethics or competence or actions of
the press.  Under the parameters of this list, should a journalist kill his
wife and be arrested for the crime, the offending country would drop in the
rankings, for interfering with the "freedom of the press".
    Such caveats do not enhance the credibility of the data.
