Hi Karen,
the canon I had seemed to have an ally foil shutter. It looked fragile 
so I never checked, it was painted black. It had a few wrinkles in it 
which looked like the sort of thing one might get in ally but unlikely 
in any steel alloy.
still I can't be sure.
