If you believe Erwin, this lens is a coke bottle bottom until you get to the middle aperatures, and there it's no great bargin - if you believe Stephen and Tom, it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, the equal of the truly stellar Leica 35 Summilux ASPH.... Go figure...;-) - -----Original Message----- From: owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us [mailto:owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us] On Behalf Of Frank Farmer Sent: Tuesday, October 28, 2003 1:56 PM To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: Re: [Leica] New Subscriber, Introduction Quincy, Welcome to the list. You'll find many varied discussions here and a great deal of info. With regard to your Noctilust . . . have you considered the extra speed of the Voigtlander 35 f/1.2 instead of the 50 f/1? It is a half stop faster than your Summilux and has recieved some good reviews. It's been 5 days after back surgery and I'm looking for a new distraction to occupy the copious amounts of free time I currently have. My name is Quincy Ogwin, I have been a involved in photography for the better part of 20 years. Currently, my most used cameras include: - - M6 / 28f2.8 - 35f1.4 and 50f2 kit (purchased early 90's) - - Konica Hexar - - Hasselblad X-PAN - - Rolleiflex 2.8 - - Polaroid 180 - - SX70 - - Nikon Digital 5000 For years I've been trying to reduce my cameras down to just one. I've come to the conclusion that the thought is lunacy and theory impossible. For film I've been a Tri-X / D-76 1:1 fellow for as long as I can remember or Type 655 in the Model 180. I'm starting to move my printing to digital with the acquisition of a digital darkroom. I've just ordered the Cone Quad system for my Epson 1280 and slowing mastering a older 120/35mm Polaroid film scanner I bought refurbished. Photoshop (particularly color management) is altogether another kettle of fish. My question to the group is that I'm very curious about the Leica CM. Has anyone seen it or used it yet ? Any advantage over a Minilux ? From the brochure I've seen looks like a nice little piece of kit. I'm also wondering about buying a 50/1 for an upcoming project I'm thinking about starting when I'm on my feet again. The speed intrigues me, but I don't find the 50 nearly wide enough. A 35/1...now *that* would be something ! Looking forward to many stimulating discussions. =-= Quincy - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
