Good thing, Rolfe, as I also use my Canon 10D digital 
SLR as a scanner !  So should I takethe plunge and
go for the 100mm APO Maro Elmarit or is the Canon
EF 100mm f2.8 Macro USM good enough ?

[Actually, copying 35mm slides this way sucks.
For medium and large format, I can get useful
8x10 proofs.  For 35mm, it's hopeless.
If I am lucky I will have a Polaroid Sprintscan 
4000 in a couple of weeks.  Perhaps lucky is not 
quite the right word, as I hate scanning]
