Jim,

buy a used minty latest version 'Cron 50/2 for $600-650.  I'm sure that
you will be very pleased with it - it has high contrast, tack sharp
from corner to corner, even wide open.  Sell the 50'lux if you don't
like it, it might even collect more than the Summicron you want to buy.

I highly doubt Leica will update any of their 50mm M lenses, and if
they would, one suspects it would be a 50/1.4 ASPH - for $2,500 or
so...
