Jerry,
The LR stands for lever rewind, just as in current M's. The M2 started
out as a cheaper alternative to the M3 and had a few cost saving items
such as a non resetting film counter, a push button you had to hold down
to rewind film, and no lever to preview different frame lines. Without
knowing the serial number sequence you can get some sense of the age on
an M2 by the combination of features.

Don

What is an "M2 LR"?

Jerry
