I tried a number of R lenses on my EOS 1N , incl. the first 19/2.8 and
it worked ok. Haven't tried them on my 10D yet.

It is likely the first 19/2.8 will work ok on the EOS 300D. It is ALSO
possible that even the 2nd version will work on the EOS 300D . This is
because unlike other EOS models, the EOS 300D allows lenses with longer
rear element groups protruding into its mirror box (the supplied 18-55 EF-S
lens being an example). I suspect they did this by reducing the size of
the mirror, maybe even setting it further back.

Someone, I don't remember who, said that the old 19mm will work but not
the new version, the one with the filters.
