If you want to color correct photos, I have a good one to recommend. I 
just bought one. The LaCie Electron Blue IV 19 inch CRT.

I know you asked for 17", but for $379 US (plus $5 shipping) you can 
order it dicrectly form LaCie. It's big, heavy and it's gorgeous. And 
once I calibrated it for Photoshop and my printer, I'm amazed how good 
it is. It even comes with a hood to minimize glare.
