The SS dated from 1925, long before Hitler was a serious political personage in Germany, and its purpose was NOT to keep the "upper classes" in line: it was primarily directed towards the middle classes in attracting their youth into service to the Party and the State. You might want to read up a bit on the period before making ill-chosen and foolish comments.
