Frank, I occasionally use a 39mm B+W linear polarizer on my 35mm and 50mm
Summicrons. Visually noting the correct setting and transferring it to the
mounted polarizer is a non-issue. I did, however, once forget to re-set
the
polarizer after changing the camera position from horizontal to vertical.
