Ever notice how many of their "Health" pieces talk about specific products, rather than ranges of products in the same category?>> Eric, It's interesting that you should mention medical news in the context of journalistic ethics. My daughter worked as a television writer/producer for MedStar, the premier provider of packaged medical spots for TV news programs. Hospitals and drug companies contract with MedStar for the production of short "news" pieces which feature new drugs, treatments, and services. The text is written, the show produced and packaged to be sent out to television stations for insertion in news broadcasts. The local anchor person reads the copy writted by the MedStar staff, then cues the video paid for and produced at the sponsoring facility. When my daughter worked there, MedStar had 88 client TV stations in major markets which featured their products. And you probably thought medical n ews was objective --- Larry Z - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
