Simply, I grow weary of intuitive arguments on this list. I yearn for
some good ol' fashioned empiricism. You may be right, you may be wrong,
who knows? It's useless vanity.

Buzz,
Obviously there are no sales figures broken out for who buys what
equipment. But I urge you to remember the condition of cameras you have
seen used. How many really clean Nikon F's have you see selling for
loads of money because they are mint. No professional use there. Nikon
didn't sell 1,000,000 to professionals; they used the professionals to
sell to all of us.

Let us now consider the Noctilux. Ted, Tina, Mark, and Slobodan have
Nocts and are professionals. Now, how many on this list just proclaimed
they have Nocts and will not part with them?

Hasselblads are probably the closest to being purchased by professionals
more than amateurs just because of the cost/hassle factor. Mostly, you
can't just drop your film off at the one hour lab. However, I suspect
that more blads were sold to amateurs, again, based on the line up on
the used shelf. A camera that has been cranked for years doesn't look
so clean and untouched.

Don, I humbly request that you cite some actual figures to sustain the
statements you make below. Otherwise, I for one would appreciate
efforts to keep the unsubstantiated assumptions and hyperbole to a
minimum.
