Simon, I don't comment very often on images posted; both of yours are
wonderful

Ironbridge first: capture of the light with large color contrasts but within
the latitude limits of your film is wonderful use of the light and for me
the composition coupled with the concentration of the craftswoman show what
I might call a gentle tension. An old master Dutch canvas.

Aunt Doreen's  portrait on the other hand succeeds splendidly in different
ways and for different reasons; a lifetime is in her face. There is
absolutely no question that she is fully aware of you and her surroundings,
despite the stroke.

Both images make effective use of diagonals to create additional visual
tension.
