Aram:  Well, I ran a few frames through the R8 with the flash attached,
it didn't start smoking or otherwise give any indication that it went
crazy on me, so I think the voltage is OK.  I have heard that you need to
watch your voltage when purchasing an older flash, thanks for the
reminder.

Norm.  I am not familiar with that Sunpak, but if it is like my older Sunpak
you have to buy a device to limit the voltage so you don't fry you camera.
I have a Sunpak 311 and a 611 and both would fry my R8 if I didn't use the
voltage reducer.
