Im not sure I equate the size difference for the same reason....  The Leica
lens is smaller than an SLR lens because they do not need all the SLR stop
down lens stuff and the lenses for WA do not require the retrofocus design
complexity.

The digital lens design only need to cover a target "film" area of smaller
than 24x36 mm.....so they can be made smaller, and as an adjunct of that
same smaller target, the penta prism can be made smaller and lighter....
thus a lighter overall design......
