Subject: [Leica] M lens and the EF-S lens, peas in the same pod?

Has someone notice that with the new Digital Rebel, they introduce an EF-S 
zoom lens? By taking advantage of the smaller penta-mirror and sensor, the 
EF-S lens is significantly smaller than the regular zoom lens. Basically 
the similar reason that the M lens are smaller?

Just an observation...
