Thanks to all who made film & developer suggestions. I have (at least
one) 100 ft roll of FP-4+ in the freezer, so I'll guess I'll be playing
around with that in Rodinal 1:25, 1:50, 1:100, DD-23 (divided D-23),
and possibly even Pyro. The Efke films looked interesting, although
you cannot get them in bulk in the US it would seem, and I'll probably
snap up 100 ft roll of Plus-X just to make a comparison to FP-4+. The
other one I'm going to have to try is to shoot Fortepan 400 at EI 200
and soup in DD-23 (or somesuch). It sounds as though it could supply
exactly the characteristics I'm looking for.

For now, I'm going to load up the Orwo NP-27 (400 ASA) that I pulled
out of the freezer some days ago. Initial trials will be with Rodinal
1:10 with continuous agitation. I'm going to try shooting it at EI
200, 400, 800, 1600, and 3200. Looking for golf-ball sized grain,
gritty dark tones, and good contrast. I thought I'd give it a run
through Edwal FG-7 1:15 + 9% sodium sulfite solution too, for good
measure, and DD-23 once I get my electronic scales and some metol, for
more normal pictorial situations.

Again, thanks. I'll keep you posted.
