Yes, it was creamy. And in retrospect the grain I'm thinking of was Tri-X in Rodinol, my mistake.  Out of curiosity how much time are you souping the Efke.  I'm getting about 8 zones for 1:50 at 3.75 min ASA 12.  The time is short but the results are reproducible for my processing technique.

I use Rodinal at 1:50 on Efke 25 and haven't had any problem with grain. 
The tones are unbelievably creamy.

IMHO, the Tmax films, especially Tmax 100, are among the worst for 
midtone separation. OTOH, John Sexton cetainly does a fine job with it :-).
