Hey, Felix - I'd even go so far as to say "the best" manual focus SLR
system... ;-)

There is no 28/1.4 (only a 2.8), but Leica does make a 35/1.4 for the R.

10fps? Ok, the EOS-1v does 3-10fps, the Nikon F5 7.3 fps and the Leica
4.5fps. Is the lack of 10fps really a deal breaker?

In my opinion I would be more worried about the R8/9s lack of advanced
environmental sealing, against moisture and dust. I believe that is a
far bigger problem, considering that this is an electronic camera and
not an SL or Nikon F. Does anyone have any experience with these
cameras in such conditions?

Ok, how about "among the most capable manual focus 35mm SLR systems"?
;-)
