My M6 came from a friend who is a heavy - though not reckless- user.
He believes a camera is a tool, not neck jewelry. Mine is a very
early M6 from 1985 or 1986 that he took all over India, North Africa
and Europe as his only camera. He replaced it with a couple of M6
TTL's in the late '90's. I called him and asked and he has never had
a problem with the slanted rewind knob.

Just one man's experience, YMMV.
