John Otto, prarie farmer. My wife's grandfather. He died about 5 years ago,
but I had the pleasure of knowing him for many years. He had those hands of
a person who knew hard manual labour all their life. But he was a very
gentle man. My mother-in-law remembers how one winter day, after a full day
tending the animals and doing the winter chores (Manitoba winter, -40 in
either scale!), he built a snow hill so his kids could toboggan!

I took this picture about 15 years ago. Thanks for your comments.
