So how can this be? If we canšt get a sharp scan off a 35mm frame; how can it be sharp from any other film. I tend to agree with you that the illusion of quality is there, but obviously we really arenšt getting what we could from the med and lg format stuff with these scanners.

And the xPan seems to fall between the cracks as not quite 35mm and not quite med format. I went into the darkroom on Saturday to pull a 20˛ print from an Ilford Delta 100 xPan neg and it simply left the 2450 scan in the dust - no comparison. So for me to do this format justice means paying big bucks for high end scans or shelling out huge money for a flextight scanner. a
