Yup! Just what I predicted a nano-second ago...everyone lining up to buy
the Leica Digoflex! :-) (That's the digital successor to the Visoflex,
of course - Leica's last attempt at cross-species reproduction.)

Now if they can just get the price down a bit more. On the other hand
it will be in keeping with Leica's philosophy of unique offerings...the
Only Digital SLR on the Market with Manual Only Focus. I had better get
that bargain priced R8 quick as they will now be grabbed up before I
know it. Too bad it will not fit the R4 - R7 bodies...

Hello one and all-
Just got some more "tid bits left on my front porch in an old
mayonnaise jar" to borrow a phrase. Looks as if the following is true-
1- It will be a Back for the R8/R9 (Pick up a mint R8 now for about
$1000.00 USA if you want a whole camera!)
2- But you'll have a year or so before it hits the shelf - so you
can save and take your time.
    3 - it will be a 10 to 11 mega pixel, 1.3x magnification factor
(like Canon's 1D) and the company IMACON (!) - the folks that make those
great high end scanners - will assist in manufacture of the sensor,
software etc. That's pretty good news!
4- Possibly a new 16mm or 17mm lens will be announced in 2004 fall
designed for it.
5- Leica "will take great effort" to make sure that the quality of
Leica glass is noticed with this new sensor (whatever that is) which
includes not only a new angle on what of and how the sensor will be
made, but the firmware itself.
6- BEST --- it should be around --- $4000.00 USD

For the rest, we all have to wait for the chat. If another Mayonnaise
Jar appears, I'll let you know (unless, there's just mayonnaise in it!)
:-)
