I don't know of any Aspheric 50mm lenses currently made by Leica. Some don't like the current Summicron because it has a built in hood, but I have had no problems with it's use. The lens is a dream and deserves it's reputation hands down. The previous version is the same optically I understand but uses a clip on lens hood, which most people here prefer. You really can't go wrong with either of the latest versions in my opinion. Following some experts, one of the most highly rated Leica lens. But I am a newbie and there is a lot of variations of this lens. My pockets do not permit ASPH so I have to decide between: Collapsible Rigid Dual Range Ealier black Summicron Last generation pre-ASPH Summicron ("50" market on the lens barrel). I have read in cameraquest that early black summicron is a notch down the later ones. I would be very grateful to hear opinions about (experts and users) Thanks a lot, Rafael - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
