Flare is well controlled as is distortion. If someone is getting poor results from this lens it is either REALLY broken, or they have other issues. The original post noted heaving vignetting on one side of the frame. This sounds like a shutter problem, not a lens problem. For those interested in the Summicron 28:Buy it and be amazed at how good a lens can be.
