Most properly stored (cool, dry, in cans) black and white film is good for
years after the expy date. I have shot film dating back to the 1940s with
poor results. Yet ortho film from 1962 stored in a closet (ISO 40 Ansco)
until I bought the case a dedade ago (frozen since) shoots fine.

B&W film from the 1990s or even earlier s/b fine unless it got hot...

Humidity is a problem with roll films the paper sometimes adheres to the
emulsion in really old stuff (1950s and prior)

You can restrain the developer to prevent reduce fog  Mark
