The use of a shoe-mounted level greatly reduces distortion in 
architectural and interior shots. Here's an interior shot I made for 
the poster for my neighborhood's house tour the year before last

Of course the chair in the right  corner is not really as wide as it 
looks, but the walls are reasonably straight and the front parlor of 
this 20' wide brownstone looks really spacious.
