All of that may be true, folks, but global economic realities are just
that - realities. The bottom line is that the pro-camera lines are
continuing to head downhill, and the consumer 'crap' is increasing in
sales.

With the war in Iraq about to begin at any moment, and a really nasty
trade war involving the major EU powers and the U.S. a distinct
possibility - don't forget that Leica is in the "Old Europe" - things
are only going to get worse.

Henry--

Good point. With the dollar's weakness, it takes lots more dollars for
Leica USA to buy Leicas from Leica AG, and that drives up the prices
here. The U.S. is 1/3 of the world's market for Leica. That's not small!

We get inquiries from Europe all the time, as do other dealers, I'm
sure. With the Euro so strong against the dollar, it's cheaper to buy
some products here and have them shipped to Europe, even with shipping
and VAT.

Yeah, just about all the global companys' balance
sheet look bad. Leica especially so, when the $EURO is
pegged so high against the $USD where U.S. is its
biggest market.
