Jerry--

Please, give me credit for a modicum of intelligence. Not only that, but I
would ask that you refrain from jumping to conclusions about me and my
motives. Or twisting what I've said so that it fits the assumptions you've
already made, or to make me look bad. That said, please note the following:

1) I did not ask my tech specialist for a rear cap that would fit every
single M that had ever been manufactured since Oskar Barnack and Ernst Leitz
were in diapers. I asked him for the rear cap that would fit the lens that
Henry was inquiring about. You are the one who interjected the Super-Angulon
into the mix; as was rightly pointed out, that was an unfair toss. You get
1/2 point for being "right" about the cap and the Angulon; you lose 1/2
point for being mean-sprited. ;-)

2) Had a customer asked me for a rear cap for his Super-Angulon, I would
have asked my tech specialist at Leica for a rear cap to fit THAT lens. I'm
sure we'd have had just the right item number for that product. Pul-eez.

3) Don't assume that I do not care about the old stuff. That is an unfair
judgment to make about me. I do care about all Leicas. I am very interested
in the older models.

4) As to being a newbie, yes, I am a new dealer, that is true. But I am an
honest dealer, and I do my best to answer the questions put to me, and I
have sense enough to ask someone else if I don't know the answer. And
believe it or not, my ego does not require me to be "right" all the time. My
job is to be helpful. I do try to do that in every single case. Sometimes we
get the right answer on the first go-round, sometimes we don't. We all try
to do our best. Putting up with people who are always trying to trip you up
takes a lot of energy. And even so, I still try to treat you with a modicum
of respect, as well as with some humor.

5) The half-firkin? I think you should add some soap, and then wash your
mouth out with it. ;-)

Kit

Kit

Some of you newbies gotta realize that Leicas are not like the current
People Magazine , read/use it a few times, then toss it out. There are
Leicas "out there" and being used that are older than you. Hell, they
are some probably older than ME.

If some chap picks up a Super-Angulon -M at a garage sale and listens
to you/your techie, he would be SOL on the back cap.

I realize that as a dealer you could not care less about the old stuff,
but there are customers who do. Don't scare them away to deal
with some of the highbinders who deal in old collectable Leica gear.

Where shall I send the half-firkin now? Using Austin's definition of
a firkin, of course. :-)
