Dense, smaller arrays mean more noise and lower picture quality.  Light
(photons) are physical entities, and you need to have just so much area to
capture just so many of them...

Well, badly done MF film perhaps...

I believe you are being very optimistic as to digitals capabilities, both
now, and in the future.
