Absolutely, but they aren't typically metal, don't have a handle (the lense)
and don't have two pounds plus of weight behind them that could drive right
into your skull.

Ah, that is not the issue.  It is where will the AIRLINE SECURITY draw the
line!

You really have to learn to not belittle and/or dismiss others because of
concerns they have.  YOU may not understand or appreciate the concern, but
that does not make it any less of a concern!
