Chris, It's called a "stupid human trick". The theory behind it, in theory, is people bid, though don't make reserve, this bidding causes others to bid...and those who have bid to have a "stake" in it, and they re-bid...and as you can see, it causes complete anarchy, fights break out...people are arrested and like my mother always told me ... someone gets hurt.
