Thanks to all the LUGgers and RUGgers for the many helpful suggestions in such
a short time period--you guys are great! The solutions fall in three distinct
groups:

- - get cheap network cards and set up a one-to-one network
- - take the hard drive from the old PC and temporarily install it in the new PC
- - software solutions such as Laplink

However, the winner is Pascal's suggestion below, for the simple reason that I
already have a USB external hard drive, I had just forgotten about it. It is a
12GB drive, total plug-and-play, and I do not have to open either computer.
