Subject: RE: [Leica] If anyone has any suggestions, I would be veryinterested. I know people do use this scanner in OS-X, so it can be done. I'm wondering if I need to install VueScan.

No student discounts that I'm aware of, but why not mail him and ask :-)
What he does offer is unlimited free upgrades. I think I bought Vuescan
the day, or the day after I downloaded it.

Incidentally when I use Vuescan I use it with the setting 'flat'. I.e. I
don't do any colour balance, sharpening, grain reduction etc. I do all
of this in Photoshop. This gives initial images that appear low in
contrast but all the information seems to be there. Does anyone else use
Vuescan in this way?

Steve

<snip>

Anyway, the Epson seems like a fine piece of equipment and Elements
isn't bad for the $50 it cost me (a benefit of being a student).
Incidentally, does anyone know if Hamrick offers student discount as
well?  :-)
