Actually, the easiest thing is to do exactly what John is proposing. All M camera
shells (except for the M5) are basically the same and, but for the M6 battery
compartment, are fully interchangeable. Given that recovering with original vulcanite
is about as easy as resurrecting the dodo, replacing the shell is the way to restore
a ratty looking camera in the original fashion.
