Sorry they bore you, Sal - I find Alfie's posts offensive to anyone who
really works at photography - as either a serious "amateur," whatever
that means, or as a professional - thus my response. By the way, are
you his editor, as he claims, and would you care to tell us all what you
think of the quality of his work - as he incorporates mention of you as
a kind of endorsement in his ads?
As to my spelling and my career as a copy editor - I was never a copy
editor and could never have survived employment as one for two days. In
fact, I often used to joke that either paper for which I worked could
have fired me for cause any time it wanted to by simply assigning me to
the copy desk, where I would have failed miserably. Can't spell. Never
could spell. Have a "learning disability." And find that people who are
anal about spelling tend to be people who can spell but can't do much
else with words. But I'm sure there are exceptions to that rule. ;-)

As a retired copy editor, you know the importance of correct
spelling.... especially names.... It's BURROWS and WINOGRAND, not
Burroughs and Winnogrand as you originally wrote.
Secondly, why don't you just leave Afie alone?
Your recent remarks can not be called constructive criticism. They
