Randy,

I have a Leica 28-70 zoom myself. I use it a lot and I get great results
from it. I have a comment in general about 28-70 mm zooms and that is
that I woould find them a lot more useful if they went up to 80 mm on
the long end. 

I think that this lens is, in general, better than its reputation.
Having said that, it is a zoom lens, and as such will not preform up to
the level of a fixed focus lens.
